Welcome to Space Exploration!

Before you blast off, make sure you read all these directions from NASA!

1. You will be grouped in pairs, and assigned to be the navigator or communications director for the first planet you will visit.

Don't forget to take turns after each planet!

2. Decide which planet to explore first, and click on the name of that planet below.

3. Read the information on the planet and take a few notes on what it is like.

*In order to know whether people could live there, think about these things:

*What is the planet made of? Could a person stand on it?

*What is the temperature of the planet?

*What is the air, or atmosphere, made of? Is there oxygen?

*Is there water on the planet?

*Could food be grown on the planet?

*Anything else you think would tell us whether people could live there.

4. Draw pictures of the planet if you plan to include a drawing in your report for extra credit.

5. When you are done exploring the planet, click on the BACK arrow in the top left of the screen to come back to this page.

6. Move on to the next planet.

7. After you have explored every planet, look at your notes and discuss with your partner whether people could live on any of them. Why or why not?

8. Write your report, using at least 2 facts from each planet to explain whether people could live there.

*Your report can be written on post cards or lined paper.

*You must write in full sentences, with correct punctuation.

*Neatness counts!

9.You will then present your report to the class.

*Please speak clearly!

*Always look at your fellow astronauts when speaking!
